How to watch Liverpool vs Southampton - UK TV channel, live stream online, early team news

Liverpool take on Southampton in the Premier League at Anfield this afternoon, but if the Reds were hoping to start building momentum in the league, they won't be able to.

That's because this fixture is Liverpool's last before club football takes a six-week break for the first-ever winter World Cup in Qatar.

Victory at Tottenham Hotspur last time out has put Jurgen Klopp's side back on the front foot after hugely disappointing defeats against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. But the German's stuttering side will be desperate to finish off the first part of the season with a home win against the Saints, who will have new boss Nathan Jones in the dugout.

There will be no Jurgen Klopp however. He is serving a one-match touchline ban and will have to settle for watching from the stands.

Here are all the details on how to follow Saturday's contest.

When does the match kick off?

The game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, November 12. Because of the UK's long-standing 3pm blackout rule, the match will not be shown live on UK television. That also means that sadly there is no UK live stream either.

How else can I follow the match?

You can follow live updates from the match on the ECHO's live matchday blog. Ian Doyle, Theo Squires and Tom Cavilla will be providing live updates from L4 during the contest. The blog is in our live section HERE.

There will also be live match commentary on BBC Radio 5 LIVE.

Where can I watch highlights?

Highlights will be available immediately after the game on the Sky Sports YouTube channel. Alternatively, you can wait for Match of the Day later in the evening on BBC One, 11pm start.

What is the early team news?

Klopp will still have several players unavailable for selection for this afternoon’s match. Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo remain long-term absentees.

The German confirmed on Friday that Joel Matip is back in training, though suggested the defender is unlikely to feature against Southampton. Matip hasn't featured since Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal at the start of last month.

On a positive note, James Milner is back available after missing the last two matches due to suffering from a concussion.

Southampton are expected to be without Juan Larios (adductor), Kyle Walker-Peters (thigh) and Tino Livramento (knee), but otherwise, Nathan Jones will have a full squad to chose from.
