Emma Raducanu makes her return to the tennis court as she faces Ena Shibahara in Nottingham this afternoon.
It is six weeks since the Briton was last in action, when she was beaten by Maria Lourdes Carle in the first round of the Madrid Open, and Raducanu then opted against entering qualifying for the French Open in a bid to “to keep fit for the rest of the year”.
Surgeries meant Raducanu missed the grass-court season last year and this is a long-awaited return to home soil, as she builds towards Wimbledon next month.
The 21-year-old faces world number 274 Shibahara in the opening round of Nottingham, with the winner to face either second seed Marta Kostyuk or Daria Snigur next.
