There is a familiar feel to the Women’s Champions League final as Barcelona take on Lyon this evening.
At least one of these sides have been in the last eight finals in this competition, with Lyon twice beating the Spanish giants during that time.
They are comfortably the most successful club in Champions League history, lifting the trophy on eight occasions, but Barcelona are the defending champions and are eyeing a third European title in four years.
It was not necessarily routine for either team in the semi-finals. Lyon faced French rivals PSG and battled to a 5-3 win on aggregate, scoring three late goals in the second leg to come from behind, while Barcelona were beaten at home by Chelsea but got the job done at Stamford Bridge to seal a 2-1 aggregate victory.
