Champions League holders Real Madrid enter the Club World Cup on Wednesday, and only Egyptian giants Al Ahly stand between them and a place in Saturday's final.
As a result of beating Liverpool 1-0 in last May's final, Real Madrid booked their place in the delayed 2022 edition of the tournament, which is taking place in the Moroccan cities of Rabat and Tangier. The competition was moved to February from its original December date due to a clash with the World Cup in Qatar.
Al Ahly entered in the first round of the tournament and won 3-0 against the champions of Oceania, Auckland City, on February 1st to reach the second round, where the Seattle Sounders stood between them and the European champions. Three days later, a late Mohamed Magdy goal was enough to defeat the Major League Soccer side, who were the first American outfit to enter the tournament as North American champions.
