Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock has raised eyebrows from both the public and campmates by entering the I'm A Celeb jungle while still sitting as an MP. He and fellow late arrival comedian Seann Walsh were immediately sent to a trial to get dinner for the other campmates.
The show allows the public to vote for which celebrity, or MP, they want to see undertake the next bushtucker trial which are unpleasant tasks filled with critters, slime, offal and other disgusting surprises. It is possible to vote for campmates to dive into these gruelling and gross trials without even watching the show - as long as your timing is right.
Once an evening, voting opens during the live show for around 15 minutes before hosts Ant and Dec head into camp to announce who has been selected. Votes normally open towards the end of the show so from around 10pm the vote is likely to be open or opening soon.
The easiest way to vote is through the I'm A Celebrity app, especially if you're not watching the show, as you can easily check to see if you are able to vote yet. On the app, all eligible campmates will be displayed and viewers have five free votes to cast on whoever they choose - all five can be given to one person.
Votes can also be given via the phone using a set number for mobile and landline, these are given during the show and displayed on the screen. For people who just want Matt Hancock facing trials without watching, this method is hit and miss because you may call before the vote is open and waste money as it costs 50p per call.
Remember at some points the vote will open not for the next trial but for the campmate you want to stay in the jungle, the person with the least votes is kicked out.
Matt Hancock's entrance into the jungle was met with outright laughter and disbelief from fellow 'mole' Seann who was still in shock when the pair went down to the trial area. The MP proved determined, moving through underground tunnels filled with gunk and creepy crawlies to win the camp four stars - a total of six with Seann's stars.
When he entered the camp, stars such as Mike Tindall and Boy George met him with some reservations with many wondering what on earth he was doing there. He told campmate and journalist Charlene that he was there to prove that politicians are real people, which was met with a viral image of Charlene looking deadpan directly into the camera.
Other campmates are sceptical of his arrival and footballer Jill Scott commented that there had been a shift in the atmosphere in the jungle. Hollyoaks star Owen Warner admitted he had no clue what Matt had done or why people were so polarised by him.
The MP, who has had the Tory whip removed for joining the show, was immediately chosen by the public to face the bushtucker trial called the Tentacles of Terror.
