How to solve Error 213 in Escape from Tarkov – Error Connecting to Auth Server

Escape from Tarkov players are having to endure Error 213 on the opening night of update 1.0, and it can be a frustrating experience.

If you're an old player, chances are that you have encountered this issue at least once during your previous sessions. Error 213 is strictly related to the server side of things and typically pops up when there's a server wipe.

How to fix Error 213 in Escape from Tarkov

When the Error 213 pops up, it simply means that the "auth server" has failed to verify your identity. This isn't much of your fault, as it happens when too many players are trying to log in at the same time after a server wipe, which happened earlier for the update.

One simple trick is just to retry your connection. There's a chance that the server, despite being overcrowded, could let you in as you keep retrying from your end. However, there's no guarantee that it will work. If it does, there's no certainty about how many times you'll have to retry to get through. Ultimately, it's not a foolproof method, but it can work sometimes if you're desperate to play Escape from Tarkov and are getting Error 213.

I haven't managed to find any alternate solution for this error on the Steam version of the game. One option is to wait until the initial rush is over. However, that's not much of a solution if you want to jump in as of writing.

If you use the BSG launcher, an alternative is to update it to the latest version. You can try to reinstall the latest version and try logging in.

Ultimately, we will have to wait for the server rush to die down. Once the login attempts are along expected lines, it will reduce the appearance of Error 213 on its own.
