How to solve “1000 Backend Error” in Escape from Tarkov

The 1000 Backend Error appears to be popping up for many Escape from Tarkov players on the opening launch of version 1.0, and it can be a massive problem.

While it's slightly odd that this old error seems to have crept up into the new version of the game, it only goes to show that there are possible solutions already known about for you to try.

Escape from Tarkov "1000 Backend Error" fix

The 1000 Backend Error typically appears when you've started a new game. This applies to both PvP and PvE modes. The error typically appears once you have created your character and chosen your faction. Once you hit next after confirming your name, the error pops up.

The error can also show up with the following description: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Here's what you should do if you're getting the 1000 Backend Error.

  • Completely close Escape from Tarkov.
  • Restart the game, but don't create a character.
  • Go to settings.
  • Clear the cache, which should remove the previous instance of character creation.
  • Restart the game.

If you're not on Steam, you can clear the cache from the Escape from Tarkov client. The process is pretty much the same. This error typically pops up more following a wipe, so it's not an uncommon one to get. Hopefully, the steps I have mentioned will allow you to proceed normally with the character creation.

The opening day has popped a fair number of errors so far, which include Code 418. This one is more closely related to the server performance, and there's not much you can do apart from a few basic steps. Hopefully, the problems will be fixed soon, and we will be able to start our respective adventures.
