If this sounds like a Netflix true-crime pitch, that’s because it almost writes itself. A husband dies suddenly. A grieving wife goes on TV. She writes a children’s book about loss, telling kids that the dead are never really gone. America nods along. The story feels neat, tragic, even a little inspirational.
And then the ending changes.
