James, who was also known as BowelBabe, died aged 40 after being diagnosed with bowel cancer at age 35.
She spent five years raising awareness of bowel cancer on social media and with her podcast, You, Me and the Big C.
In 2018, she published her first book, titled F*** You Cancer: How to face the big C, live your life and still be yourself, about navigating life following a cancer diagnosis.

What is the How To Live When You Could Be Dead book about?
Deborah James’ How To Live When You Could Be Dead book is about the lessons she learned following her bowel cancer diagnosis.
It’s about how James learned to live not knowing if she had tomorrow, and how she “[harnessed] the power of positivity and valued each day as though it could be [the] last,” in order to live with “joy and purpose, no matter what.”
James wrote: “I was alive when I should have been dead. In another movie, I missed the sliding door and departed this wondrous life long ago. Like so many others, I had to learn to live not knowing if I have a tomorrow, because, statistically, I didn’t.
“At the age of 35, I was blindsided by incurable bowel cancer - I was given less than an 8 per cent chance of surviving five years. Five years later, my only option was to live in the now and to value one day at a time.”
How To Live When You Could Be Dead release date
How To Live When You Could Be Dead will be published in hardback on August 18, 2022.
The book was originally set to be released in January 2023, but the release date was brought forward.
When announcing that the book would be published in August, James said it would still be released “long after I’m flying high,” but would “hopefully a little less longer for you to wait.”

How To Live When You Could Be Dead costs £14.99 and £3 of every sale in the UK will be donated to the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK.
