After England's women, led by Arsenal's Leah Williamson, won the UEFA Women's Euro 2022, the hope is that there will be a positive legacy for the women's game in the wake of a wonderfully positive tournament.
There has been excellent growth for the women's game in recent years, with the FA aiming to triple attendances by 2024. This target could be accelerated after there was such positivity surrounding the whole tournament. The opening match was played in front of a capacity crowd at Old Trafford while the final saw 87,192 fans pack out Wembley Stadium.
There was an average crowd of 18,544 for the tournament, this is a brilliant figure for the women's game but this will surely swell as they season gets underway on 9 September.

London has two of the leading women's clubs, with Arsenal and Chelsea both having reached the latter stages of the Champions League in recent years. They also have a host of stars, with Williamson and Golden Boot winner Beth Mead both starring for the Gunners while Millie Bright and Fran Kirby turn out for Chelsea.
The opportunity to see their heroes from this summer will be an exciting one for football fans in the future and there is real hope that there can be a lasting legacy for the tournament.
