The Blur reunion has fans excited
(Picture: EMI)British band Blur have announced they will be headlining a show at Wembley Stadium for the first time.
The group will return to the stage on Saturday, July 8, 2023, with fans lining up to get their chance to see one of the biggest British bands of the past three decades.
Blur has seen number one hits with songs such as Country House and Beetlebum, including five successive number-one UK albums.
“We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again,” Damon Albarn said in a press release.

How can you get tickets?
The Britpop band - which comprises Damon Albarn, Alex James, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree - will be supported by British rapper Slowthai, electro-pop duo Jockstrap, and singer-songwriter Self Esteem, and will be hitting the capital in the summer of next year.
The one-off reunion gig tickets will go on general sale from 10am on Friday, November 18.

What has Blur said about the Wembley gig?
“There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that, on July 8, that room will be Wembley Stadium,” said bassist Alex James, of their upcoming performance.
Drummer Dave Rowntree added: “After the chaos of the last few years, it’s great to get back out to play some songs together on a summer’s day in London. Hope to see you there.”
And the fans?
Fans took to Twitter to express their elation, with ‘Coco’ saying she will “cry with happiness”:
While another proclaimed, “I’m crazy for this!!! It really really really could happen.”
Blur and Britpop
Blur were formed in 1988 and helped popularise the Britpop genre - a British-based music culture movement.
This was further aided by the famous chart battle between rival band Oasis back in 1995, dubbed “The Battle of Britpop”.
