How to get the Wakemaker in Subnautica 2

One of your main goals in Subnautica 2 is crafting new tech to help you swim faster and stay underwater for longer. The Wakemaker is your first major upgrade in this department after getting an oxygen tank and some flippers, but it's not immediately obvious how to get it.

Like with other tools and tech, such as the Sonic Resonator used to mine large ore deposits, you need to find and scan the item in multiple locations to learn the blueprint. Unlike the Sonic Resonator, though, you can't grab all the Wakemaker fragments in a single location.

How to get the Wakemaker in Subnautica 2

You need to scan three Wakemaker fragments to unlock it as a craftable blueprint. These are the locations I've found so far, which I demonstrate how to reach in the video above:

1. In a box next to a science lab platform just past the broken ship 15° north of the Lifepod, but very close, at 30m depth
2. On a desk on a science lab platform in the open seabed (near the Coral Crabs) about 120° southeast of the Lifepod, roughly 25m deep and 200m away
3. In a box on a science lab platform on a cliff, 45° northeast of the Lifepod, about 20m deep and 200m away

Once you've scanned enough Wakemaker parts, return to an improved Fabricator (so one you've built, not the one in the Lifepod) where you'll be able to craft the Wakemaker using:

• 1x silver
• 1x wiring kit
• 1x grease
• 1x basic battery

As you can see, crafting the Wakemaker requires you to craft a few materials first. Wiring kits are electronic items made using silver and copper wire. Likewise, basic batteries, which you'll need to recharge the Wakemaker, need two copper and an Acidic Raion Pouch. Lastly, you just need one Lucifer Rotsac to make grease.

Once you've constructed your own Wakemaker, equip it from your hotbar and the twin fans will boost your movement speed while you swim. It's not quite on the level of the Tadpole, but it's nevertheless a massive improvement, letting you dive deeper and get around faster. Just make sure you bring a backup battery in case it runs out of juice and you're left stranded at the bottom of the ocean.

It's also worth building a battery recharge point so you can charge the dead one when it runs dry, and swap out batteries when you return to base.
