How to get a free electric blanket from Octopus Energy

Rising energy bills continue to put pressure on families across the nation and add to the cost-of-living crisis.

After the latest price-cap rise on October 1, the average family will have to pay up to £2,500 a year for their energy.

Octopus Energy has launched a new scheme that gives out free electric blankets with hopes of slashing Brits’ energy bills by hundreds of pounds.

Here’s everything you need to know about how you can get an Octopus Electric Blanket and how much money it will save you.

How can I get a free electric blanket from Octopus Energy?

The energy provider has launched the Octopus Electric Blanket scheme, which will give away 10,000 blankets, so that people can stay warm during the winter with less financial burden.

The scheme is open to all Octopus Energy customers, but prioritises those who are struggling and need an electric blanket the most.

To apply, customers need to fill out their Financial Assistance Form and provide information about how much they earn and how they spend their money to understand their financial circumstances.

How much money will an electric blanket save me?

Electric blankets are known as a highly efficient way to keep warm without having to turn the central heating on.

Currently, running an electric blanket costs less than 3p an hour. In comparison, heating a whole home could cost around £4.70 a day, according to Octopus Energy.

Octopus Energy’s analysis that studied 4,190 customers’ energy data says that customers who received electric blankets reduced their energy bills by 19 per cent.

This equated to them saving £300 on their energy bills this year.
