How to open Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant
To open an Encrypted Vault in the Normal-difficulty zone, you need a Code Analyzer. However, to open an Encrypted Vault in the Hard-difficulty zone, you need a Code Breaker. Both drop from monsters in any zone at their respective difficulties.
changing world difficulty:To change the zone’s difficulty, open the map and switch it in the top-left corner. After changing the difficulty, reload into the zone using any fast travel point.
Code Analyzers and Code Breakers also come in different rarities to match the three Encrypted Vault types. Here are all types of Code Analyzers and Code Breakers and which Encrypted Vaults you can open with them:
| Code Analyzer/Breaker | Encrypted Vault type | Zone difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Code Analyzer | Encrypted Vault (White) | Normal |
| Precision Code Analyzer | Precise Encrypted Vault (Blue) | Normal |
| Ultra-precision Code Analyzer | Ultraprecise Encrypted Vault (Purple) | Normal |
| Code Breaker | Encrypted Vault (White) | Hard |
| Precision Code Breaker | Precise Encrypted Vault (Blue) | Hard |
| Ultra-precision Code Breaker | Ultraprecise Encrypted Vault (Purple) | Hard |
Once you have the right Analyzer/Breaker, interact with the Encrypted Vault to start a hacking minigame. Press the right button when the arrow goes through the green area, then rinse and repeat until the Vault opens.
To make the minigame easier, especially for Ultra-precision Encrypted Vaults, use Enzo or Nell to open them. Both Descendants have a passive that increases efficiency and rewards when opening Encrypted Vaults.
