How to 'film' a reindeer in your home this Christmas with McDonald's app

If Elf on the Shelf is going crazy in your house, imagine how giddy the kids will be to see a reindeer in their home.

Following big success with its Reindeer Ready Live app in previous years, McDonald's has relaunched the technology once again, as well as launching a free downloadable festive audiobook narrated by Jamie Redknapp.

The app, which can be downloaded now from the Reindeer Ready Hub, allows parents to capture footage of Santa’s reindeer as they stop off at the house on Christmas Eve.

It's really simple to sort. All you need to do is visit reindeerready.co.uk/live on your phone or tablet, as it doesn't work on desktop.

To make it even easier there's a QR code you can scan too.

Once you've clicked on 'get started', you can then choose a photo or take one of the spot in your home where you want the reindeer to appear.

You are also able to choose which way you want to position the animal by using the 'flip the reindeer' option.

Agree to the T&Cs, wait 30 seconds whilst your video is processed and hey presto! You have a pet reindeer - kind of.

Once all that's done you can share it to social media or send it via email.

The aim of the audiobook, narrated by football legend Jamie Redknapp, is to give families something to listen to while on those often long Christmas car journeys.

The bespoke story, 'The Perfect Christmas List' by Sarah Hawkins, follows a child called Alfie who comes to realise that the best thing on his Christmas list is spending time with his family.

Jamie said: “As a dad, I know how hard it can be getting everyone in the car at Christmas, but spending time with the family, wherever we are, is the most important part of the holiday for me, and anything we can enjoy together is always welcome. I hope the McDonald’s festive audiobook brings a few smiles on those long drives coming up.”

The audiobook marks the sixth and final week of McDonald’s ‘The Alternative Christmas List’ campaign, six magical and free experiences that were available via the hub ahead of Christmas to 'celebrate moments of togetherness with family and friends'.
