Start with the entrance, because guests judge it first
The moment a guest steps through your front door, the chappals, the umbrella stand overflowing with three broken umbrellas, the school bags dumped on the shoe rack, all of it lands before a single word of greeting. Chanakya wrote in the Arthashastra that a well-ordered home signals a well-ordered household. He meant it politically, but the entrance proves it socially every time.Clear the shoe rack down to one pair per family member. Everything else goes into a cloth bag hung on the inside of the main door or tucked into a storage ottoman if you have one. The umbrella stand gets one umbrella. Keys go on a single hook. The floor in front of the door stays empty. This takes twelve minutes and changes the entire first impression of your home.
