Bank Holiday Monday has disrupted bin collection schedules for some parts of Wales. Here’s how you can find out when your bins will next be collected.
The latest bin collection information should be available on your local council’s website. Alternatively, check the social media of your local council for updates on the bin collection schedule.
Bin collections are usually handled by your district, borough or city council. If you’re not sure who is responsible for your waste collection, you can use the Government’s postcode search to find your local council’s bin collection day. It will take you to your local authority’s website where detailed information should be available.

Those under Cardiff council’s authority can use the council’s postcode search to find out when their bins will be emptied. The same search facility is available on Newport City Council’s website .
Swansea Council has stated that no changes to the bin schedule will be made to accommodate bank holidays, meaning that the bins will be emptied as normal. Swansea Council states : “There will be no changes to rubbish and recycling collections on bank holidays this year (until Christmas). All collections will take place on the normal days.”
Monmouthshire Council announced some delays on collections due to the bank holiday. The council’s website states : “There will be no waste collections on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, all collections will take one day later than usual that week.”
Carmarthenshire County Council has announced some delays to garden waste and hygiene and nappy waste collections due to “staff shortages” following the bank holiday. Visit the council’s website for more information .
