How to celebrate International Coffee Day 2024 and get your caffeine fix

Coffee lovers unite as October 1 is the day when there is no problem with indulging in some caffeine.

Every year, enthusiasts of the hot beverage come together to celebrate International Coffee Day and shine a spotlight on the global coffee craze.

In 2024, the International Coffee Organization is inviting “everyone to embrace the spirit of collaboration, weaving stories of coffee into a shared journey”, and recognising the difference it can make to open up with a friend or loved one over a brew.”

What is International Coffee Day?

The day is done to pay tribute to coffee farmers around the globe, and to recognise how much of a difference slowing down to enjoy a hot drink can make.

A spokesman said: “For many, coffee is more than just a drink; it’s a daily ritual that provides the comforting aroma and taste that kickstarts the morning. This event highlights the importance of coffee to millions of people, from the farmers who cultivate it to the consumers who rely on it for a boost.

“International Coffee Day also acknowledges the contributions of the entire coffee community. By exploring the diverse aspects of coffee production and consumption, people can appreciate the dedication involved at every step. Whether it is through sharing experiences or supporting local farmers, the day fosters an appreciation for the beloved beverage.”

When is International Coffee Day?

The day is celebrated annually and always on October 1.

How can I get involved in International Coffee Day?

The hashtags #icd2024and#coffeepeople are trending on social media, encouraging users to share pictures and stories of their favourite coffee experiences.

You could share a snap of your favourite coffee combination, whether that be a cold brew or a caramel latte.

The ICO added: “Through partnerships and collaboration, different cultures can come together to celebrate their shared love of coffee.”
