The American League Central division is having a moment.

The Detroit Tigers continued their torrent pace and swept the Houston Astros out of the Wild Card round of the 2024 MLB playoffs.

The Tigers, the hottest team in baseball since August 11 when they had just a .02% chance of making the playoffs, now face a familiar foe in the American League Divisional Series, the Cleveland Guardians.

The Guardians earned a bye to the ALDS after winning 92 games this season and the AL Central division title.

In addition to these two AL Central teams, the Kansas City Royals also advanced on Wednesday, sweeping the Baltimore Orioles. The Royals will face off against Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees in the next round.
