Some 11.6 million Winter Fuel Payments and Pensioner Cost of Living Payments have been made to pensioners across the UK so far this winter. More than 99 per cent of those eligible have already received up to £600 to help with their energy bills since the rollout began in November, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) says.
Most of these payments have landed in pensioners' bank accounts automatically. Those who haven't received their payment yet shouldn't panic because they will continue to be made until next month and should arrive by January 13.
Pensioners who don't receive their payment by this date should contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre online or by telephone. The payments appear in bank statements with the payment reference beginning with the customer’s National Insurance number followed by ‘DWP WFP’ for people in Great Britain, or ‘DFC WFP’ for people in Northern Ireland. Pensioners are being asked to double check their bank statements for this reference number before contacting the DWP.
