High pressure from the Azores over the weekend and next week is set to bring more dry, settled weather to Wales. The sunshine is set to bring rising temperatures. with highs of 28°C in Cardiff.
It is a return of high pressure that dominated the UK for much of July. Overall, the UK saw just 56% (46.3mm) of its average rainfall for July, making it the driest July in over 20 years and the driest in Wales since 1949.
Tuesday has been wet for most parts of Wales, but the Met Office outlook says: "By the weekend, it is expected to be predominately dry across the UK as high pressure re-exerts its influence from the south."

The forecast for Wales says that it will be "rather cloudy" on Thursday, and then "sunnier" from Friday onwards.
Met Office maps are showing that the temperatures will rise over the weekend and into the start of next week, with sunny weather and only a little weather in all areas.

The Met Office long range UK forecast for Saturday, August 6, to Monday, August 15, say: "Most places are likely to see mainly settled weather at the start of this period, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells across the country. However, cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread across northern areas on Saturday, the heaviest of these expected in northwest Scotland.
"Dry in the south with clear or sunny spells. Isolated showers may affect the north through the weekend and into Monday. Temperatures near normal, or locally warm in parts of the south. The dry weather is likely to persist further into the period, becoming more widespread in the north. Still the chance of some periods of organised rain in the north at times. Temperatures becoming widely near normal, but perhaps warm or very warm in the south."
