It's been one week since Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak cut fuel duty by 5p after what was the biggest ever drop and the first cut in two decades. The cost of diesel and petrol has been increasing since before the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has soared on the back of rising wholesale oil prices, to the point where last week one Welsh petrol station saw diesel prices at 199.9p a litre. According to RAC's fuel watch, across the UK the average cost for unleaded now stands at 163.52p per litre as of March 29, and 177.47p for diesel.
