Making an impact within the Liverpool first-team is an ambition not every player is able to fulfil.
A number of individuals have been sent away from the club in a bid to improve their chances of bridging the first-team gap, with some experiencing more luck in this area than others.
Seventeen starts are currently plying their trade elsewhere, and the ECHO have taken a closer look at how those out on loan have fared since their exits were finalised.

Jakub Ojrzynski - Radomiak Radom
Having established himself as a first-choice keeper for Welsh Premier League side Caernarfon Town last season, making a total of 32 appearances, the Reds' Academy prospect will have gained valuable lessons from this experience. Ojrzynski sealed another temporary switch for the current campaign to Polish top-flight side Radomiak Radom, but has found opportunities hard to come by.
The 19-year-old has made only one league start and two cup appearances and appears unlikely to feature on a consistent basis between now and May.
Verdict: Miss.
Conor Bradley - Bolton Wanderers
The Liverpool full-back has been in fine form since joining the Trotters on a season-long loan deal at the start of the campaign. Successfully establishing himself as a starting right-back in Ian Evatt's side, Bradley has showcased his attacking output to great effect by scoring three times and registering four assists in 20 appearances.
Operating at League One level will have proven to be an invaluable experience for the 19-year-old, who will certainly return to Anfield a more well-rounded player as a result of this move.
Verdict: Hit.
James Balagizi - Crawley Town
Balagizi began the 2022/23 season in impressive fashion for League Two Crawley Town, scoring in a Carabao Cup second round victory over Fulham to cause a major upset. The Academy midfielder featured in all ten of the Red Devils' Fourth Division fixtures, making a positive impression in the process, but has been sidelined since September with a groin injury.
The 19-year-old is expected to make his return to the team before the turn of the year and will look to replicate the form shown during the opening weeks of the season.
Verdict: Hit.
Billy Koumetio - Austria Wien
Sent out on loan this season for the first time in his career, Koumetio has had to remain patient during his time in Austria to date. The towering defender has made five senior league appearances but has since been sent to the Violets' B team, who currently operate in the second division.
Verdict: Miss
Marcelo Pitaluga - Macclesfield
A move to non-league Macclesfield may not have a transfer many expected to see the 19-year-old goalkeeper make, but the Brazilian is thriving in the Northern Premier League Division One West. Currently top of the league at Macclesfield, Pitaluga has stepped out of the Academy comfort zone for a taste of fiercely competitive action. The Silkmen are firm favourites to win the league this season and the teenage shot-stopper is likely to play a key role in transforming this aim into a reality.
Verdict: Hit.
Adam Lewis - Newport County
Appearing in 13 of Newport County's 18 League Two fixtures this term, and 19 matches in all competitions, the Liverpool left-back has successfully held down a starting role for the Exiles. Previous loan spells at Amiens and Livingston have not produced the same outcome, leaving Lewis on the fringes of the squad.
Although highly unlikely to make it at first-team level for the Reds, the 23-year-old will have nonetheless reaped the reward of regular minutes.
Verdict: Hit.
Vitezslav Jaros - Stockport County
After somewhat of a shaky start to their League Two campaign, Stockport have witnessed an upturn in results to fuel hopes of a promotion push. Liverpool's 21-year-old goalkeeper has made 11 league starts in 2022/23, but has missed the last month of action through injury. Jaros will be expected to regain his place once deemed fit to feature.
Verdict: Hit.
Anderson Arroyo - Alaves
Despite signing for Liverpool in 2018, the Colombian is yet to make his first-team debut and appears unlikely to make this step in the future. Heading out on loan for the sixth time since becoming a Red, Arroyo's latest move has seen him return to the second tier of Spanish football.
The 23-year-old was a regular for Mirandes last term and is now representing league leaders Alaves, who sit three points clear at the top after 15 games. Arroyo has starred in eight of 15 La Liga 2 matches and will be hopeful of helping his team clinch promotion.
Verdict: Hit.
Owen Beck - Bolton Wanderers
Originally sent to Portuguese side Famalicao, the 20-year-old full-back terminated his contract only 46 days after joining the club. Beck failed to feature during his brief spell abroad and returned to England in favour of linking up with Bradley at Bolton. The Welsh youth international has experienced similar struggles with the Whites and is unlikely to break into the first-team.
Verdict: Miss.
Rhys Williams - Blackpool
It has been a mixed spell for the Liverpool loanee at Bloomfield Road, on the back of an unsuccessful stint at Swansea City last year. Williams has worked his way into Michael Appleton's plans but is part of a Blackpool side who sit second from bottom in the Championship and lacking confidence as they bid to beat the drop.
Verdict: Miss.
Tyler Morton - Blackburn Rovers
Harvey Elliott acts as the evidence regarding what can be achieved during a loan spell at Ewood Park - an example Tyler Morton is looking to follow this year. The 20-year-old has become a key component of Rovers' midfield department and is helping contribute to the team's impressive form at Championship level.
Verdict: Hit.
Leighton Clarkson - Aberdeen
Another midfielder who has grasped a chance of first-team football away from the Academy. Clarkson has three goals to his name and is part of an Aberdeen side who have earned rave reviews for their revival under manager Jim Goodwin.
Verdict: Hit.
Sepp van den Berg - Schalke
The Dutch defender started Schalke's first four Bundesliga fixtures but is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious ankle injury. Van den Berg is expected to make his comeback next year, by which point Schalke's top-flight fate may well have been decided.
Verdict: Miss.
Jack Bearne - Kidderminster Harriers
The 21-year-old attacker has been limited to three substitute appearances since joining Kidderminster Harriers at the start of September. Bearne has scored one goal and provided one assist during his cameo displays, but Liverpool will have been wanted the youngster to be involved on a much more regular basis in comparison to the chances he has been afforded.
Verdict: Miss.
Paul Glatzel - Tranmere Rovers
It seems Paul Glatzel simply cannot catch a break on an injury front. The striker returned to Prenton Park for a second successive season after impressing last year, but is currently sidelined due to a repeated hamstring issue. Glatzel has suffered several setbacks during his earlier career, the latest of which arrived during his first outing of 2022/23 against Bradford City after lasting only 14 minutes as a substitute before being forced off. His recovery process is ongoing.
Verdict: Miss.
Fidel O'Rourke - Caernarfon Town
Fidel O’Rourke has relished the chance of operating in the Welsh Premier League, scoring five goals in eight league matches – a tally bettered by only five players in the division. The 20-year-old forward was also on target in a second round Welsh Cup win over Flint Mountain, supporting his strong run of form for the Coffis.
Verdict: Hit.
Max Woltman - Doncaster Rovers
Still in search of a first goal for Doncaster Rovers, it is hardly a surprise this has failed to arrive given the limited chance that have come the way of Max Woltman. The young forward has only started one League Two game - a 3-0 defeat away to Carlisle United - with his eight other showings arriving as a substitute.
Verdict: Miss.
