
Back in 2010, Stephen Miran had one of those once-in-a-lifetime aha moments that few people experience in their careers.
“It was during my first job working as an economist for a currency-focused hedge fund,” Miran recalled during a phone interview in early May. “The currency markets are a bit of a Wild Wild West. All sorts of things happen that shouldn’t happen in an economics textbook. Heavily managed currencies in some countries were making markets behave in weird ways.”
