How Reform UK plans to take on Kemi Badenoch for her Essex seat

  • Reform UK is to select its candidate for Kemi Badenoch ’s North West Essex constituency using a US-style open primary.
  • All residents in the constituency will be eligible to vote for the candidate at a public event hosted by Nigel Farage in November.
  • Reform UK aims to unseat Ms Badenoch, who retained her seat in 2024 with a narrow majority of 2,610 votes.
  • The announcement coincides with the Conservative Party conference, where Reform UK launched an advertising van targeting the opposition frontbench.
  • Reform UK chairman Lee Anderson criticised Ms Badenoch, claiming her shadow cabinet is filled with figures responsible for past government failings.
