How Rangers could line up for against Motherwell as Goldson absence and Kent form lead to left-field selections

Rangers have just a couple of days to pick themselves up and dust themselves after being thumped by Liverpool on Wednesday.

It was a night to forget for Gio van Bronckhorst and his men who conceded seven goals in front of a hopeful Ibrox crowd. But it is back to domestic actions with a trip to Firhill to meet Motherwell on Sunday next up. Motherwell have just one win from their last five outings, but with confidence low in the Rangers camp, Sunday could see upset.

There are likely to be a few changes to the starting XI at the weekend. Some enforced alterations, with Connor Goldson unavailable after hobbling off against Liverpool, with the defender later spotted on crutches. And now Record Sport understands that the stopper is set to sit on the sidelines for months after picking up an injury to his thigh. Ryan Jack was also forced off early and is likely to be unavailable for a prolonger period.

Van Bronckhorst could also opt to shake things up after his side's midweek mauling. Ryan Kent disappointing as the Lght Blues took on the second battle of Britain tie. Borna Barisic is another that may have lost his place in the Rangers starting squad after a weak defensive performance under the Ibrox lights, with John McLaughlin likely to replace Allan McGregor after the keeper conceded seven goals from just nine shots on target as Liverpool ran riot.

Below, Record Sport looks at a possible starting XI.

Predicted XI: McLaughlin, Tavernier, King, Sands, Yilmaz; Kamara, Tillman, Arfield, Sakala, Matondo, Colak
