Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling could be set to join Chelsea according to reports, with the England international set to be a free agent next summer. The Premier League champions don't want to lose Sterling on a free transfer, and could look to offload him this summer to balance the books for Financial Fair Play rules.
Sterling has not been a week-in, week-out starter for City within the past few seasons, sharing playing time with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden. And with the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Jack Grealish likely to be given a bigger role next season, the 27-year-old Sterling could see a decreased role in his final year at the Etihad.
Therefore, City could look to move him on, whilst aiding with their FFP issues as mentioned. Journalist Matt Law from the Daily Telegraph has reported that Chelsea are showing interest in Sterling.
