King Charles III will officially be crowned monarch during his coronation at Westminster Abbey this weekend.
The ceremony takes place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday and will be watched by an audience of millions across the globe. The coronation takes place nearly eight months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.
Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned for more than 70 years, was crowned at her coronation in June 1953.

She was aged just 25 when she became Queen following the death of her father George VI in February 1952. But with her birthday being April 21, by the time of her coronation she was 27.
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth was shown on television making it the first time the ceremony had been screened to the public.
An estimated 27 million people in Britain alone watched the coronation live on their black and white televisions, and the images were beamed around the world.
However the coronation of Charles will be slightly different when compared to the ceremony where his mother was crowned.
For a start, it will last just two hours, compared to three 70 years ago. The King’s Coronation Procession will be shorter stretching just 1.3 miles – around a quarter of the length of the late Queen’s five-mile celebratory journey.
There will be a much shorter guestlist with just 2,000 invited to watch the King's coronation - compared to 8,251 who squeezed into Westminster Abbey 70 years ago.
Camilla will also be crowned during Charles' coronation. She will wear The Queen Mary’s crown for the coronation, marking the first time in three centuries that a Queen Consort has not had a new crown specially made.
