When Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over National League side Wrexham in February 2021 it sent shockwaves around the world.

Wrexham had been relegated to non-league football in 2008 and showed little sign of getting back there anytime soon. The club had finished 19th in the National League the year before, just one point above the relegation zone, so it’s fair to say things were bleak at the club.

However, since the Hollywood-style takeover, the club have gone from strength to strength and find themselves on the brink of Football League promotion. Wrexham have been thrust into the limelight thanks to their owners and subsequent documentary, but who owned Wrexham before their Hollywood takeover?
