The United States has spent more than $11.3 billion (around £8.45 billion) on the Iran war in just the first six days of combat, Pentagon officials told lawmakers in a closed‑door briefing this week, according to congressional sources familiar with the discussions. This early estimate reflects only part of the cost of the conflict, which began with coordinated US and Israeli airstrikes on February 28.
Officials told the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defence that the $11.3 billion figure does not include all operational expenses, such as the pre‑deployment of forces and the logistics of sustaining military operations across the Middle East. Lawmakers expect the total cost to rise substantially as further calculations are completed.
