How Much Did Akshay Bhatia Win At The Arnold Palmer Invitational?

For much of the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Daniel Berger seemed set for his fifth PGA Tour title.

However, Akshay Bhatia had other ideas during a thrilling back nine at Bay Hill that forced a playoff with Berger, before he rolled in the decisive putt on the first extra hole to win for the third time on the circuit.

As a result, Bhatia wins one of the largest prize money payouts of the year, with the American banking $4m from the Signature Event, $400,000 more than the winner typically receives in the big tournaments, as only one of three with a cut.

While Berger will no doubt be disappointed not to claim his first PGA Tour win in over five years, he will have the considerable consolation of a $2.2m payout.

Cameron Young and Ludvig Aberg tied for third at the event, giving them prize money of $1.2m.

Collin Morikawa won $840,000 for placing fifth, while three players, Sahith Theegala, defending champion Russell Henley and Min Woo Lee, were tied for sixth, giving them each $702,000 - just $18,000 less than Ricky Castillo won for securing his maiden PGA Tour title at the Puerto Rico Open.

Making the cut should see every pro pick up at least $50,000, but the final totals will be confirmed in due course.

Aside from the financial rewards, Bhatia won 700 FedEx Cup points as well as a whopping 70 world ranking points - around double what Nico Echavarria bagged seven days ago when he won the Cognizant Classic.
