Monday Jury & Ben Banks

How much are key Celtic trio worth and is Rangers transfer for Abdallah Sima the right move? Monday Jury

Did Brendan Rodgers hit the right notes on his return to Celtic on Friday?

Keith Jackson: The right note? He was pitch perfect. But the proof will be in the pudding where Celtic's returning boss is concerned. He'll soon have the punters eating out of his hand again so long as his team is in control of its own destiny.

Gordon Parks: As always, Rodgers was word perfect. His decision not to deliver an act of contrition as a wise one as it's all now focused on his task moving forward. He was also conscious not to over-sell his ambitions but managed to tell the supporters what they wanted to hear about his commitment to stay the course this time around.

Fraser Wilson: Honesty is the best policy and while Rodgers will never win over the entire Celtic support he was bang on the money to say he doesn’t regret leaving for the fresh challenge in the Premier League but softening the blow by apologising for the hurt it caused the supporters. Time to move on now.

Michael Gannon: Rodgers got it spot on. He addressed some of the old wounds and now Celtic fans can – and will – move on. His ambition to improve this team should excite the punters.

There is a lot of interest in Celtic stars such as Kyogo, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, what price tags should be on the Hoops men?

Keith: Like selling a house, you can only get what the buyer is willing to pay. But it would not be unreasonable for Celtic to expect around £40m if all three were to leave as a job lot.

Gordon: All of the above are around the £10 mark but it's Reo Hatate who's the jewel in Celtic's crown. You could double that figure and add on a bit more to any suitors looking to lure a midfielder who's only going to get better.

Fraser: Every one of them has inflated the price tag that brought them to Glasgow with their performances in the Hoops. They’re only worth what a club is willing to pay but Celtic would be right to hold out for north of £15m for Kyogo, £8m for Jota and over £10m for Carter-Vickers.

Michael: Celtic are in a strong position with their main men and they don’t need to answer the phone unless it’s with offers of more than £20m for each of them.

Rangers are understood to be in the running to land Abdallah Sima on loan or permanent deal from Brighton, would the frontman be a good addition?

Keith: Michael Beale has already said he prefers not to bring in players on loan deals. Rangers appear to have a few quid to spend this summer and most of that money has been ring fenced for a striker. It would be a surprise if it wasn't splashed out on a permanent signing.

Gordon: Sima's been unable to get a sniff of first team action at Brighton and has an injury prone track record so it's a bit of a gamble. It's a sign of the market Rangers are operating in but he does have a decent pedigree but it's a risk if a permanent deal cost £7million.

Fraser: It’s certainly an area Rangers need to strengthen. Sima would bring pace and the ability to beat a defender in a similar vein to Ryan Kent but it’s through the middle that Michael Beale really needs to land a big signing.

Michael: A loan would be a fairly low risk gamble. The youngster clearly has talent but has been hampered by injuries. There’s a sense he’s waiting for the chance to get some game time to build momentum. Rangers have other targets mind you.

Football is in storage for a few weeks, what sporting events over the summer are going to be unmissable?

Keith: Andy Murray. Wimbledon. There is no other answer.

Gordon: All eyes are about to turn to late night drama at Wimbledon with Andy Murray putting us all through the ringer. Hopefully the Scot will rewind the years once again and progress into the second week.

Fraser: It’s all about The Open and Wimbledon for me. Can Rory McIlroy go a step further than at the US Open when he tees up at Hoylake and can anyone stop Novak Djokovic at SW19?

Michael: Andy Murray’s Wimbledon swan song goes without saying but the Open at Hoylake is going to be compelling. Rory McIlroy returning to the scene of his former triumph on the back of his agony at the US Open. It would be some story if he can do it.
