How many users does Threads have? How it compares to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook

Instagram just debuted Threads last week and user uptake has happened remarkably quickly.

Even though the platform presently only supports iOS and Android users and does not yet have a web-accessible version, the rate of user acceptance has been unheard of.

Since its release, the app has quickly passed several milestones and surpassed ChatGPT to become the fastest-growing consumer application ever. Unlike Threads, which shattered the previous record in a mere fraction of the time, OpenAI's popular chatbot took two months to achieve 100 million monthly active users.

What is Threads?

The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Meta formed a platform which resembles Twitter. It features a stream of mostly text updates, while users may also upload photographs and videos and engage in real-time chats.

Users can respond to, repost, and quote other people's posts on Threads, just as on Twitter. The software also allows users to share posts from Threads directly to Instagram Stories and integrates Instagram's existing UI and functionality.

Additionally, accounts may be labelled as private or public. If you have a verified Instagram account, you will automatically be verified on Threads.

Users can alter their bio to make it specific to Threads after signing up through their Instagram accounts, keeping their login, password, and account name the same. The list of accounts that users follow can also be imported directly from Instagram, making it incredibly simple for users to start using the programme.

But leaving Threads is not nearly as simple. The firm states in its privacy policy that “your Threads profile can only be deleted by deleting your Instagram account”. Users can also temporarily deactivate their accounts via the app’s settings section.

How many users does Threads have?

Since Threads became publicly available on July 5, Mark Zuckerberg has provided updates on the number of users who have subscribed to it. The founder most recently disclosed the most recent user count update, which shows that there are currently 100 million sign-ups.

Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri confirmed the milestone for the world.

“100 million people signed up for Threads in five days. I’m not sure I can wrap my mind around that fact. It’s insane; I can’t make sense of it,” he said

According to the firm, Threads is currently accessible on Apple's iOS and Android platforms in more than 30 languages and 100 countries.

In comparison, Twitter currently has 353.9M active users annually and 237.8M active users daily. While Facebook roughly had 2.98 billion monthly active users at the beginning of 2023. Instagram is a little less as there are currently over 2.35 billion monthly active Instagram users.
