There’s no doubt that the SEC is the dominant powerhouse conference of college football.
Boasting teams such as Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU, the SEC is a tough conference to knock down and out at the end of the day. While some teams have gotten the better of the SEC — which has been represented in all but one of the College Football Playoff national championships since the 2014-15 season —most oftentimes the conference has come out on top.
The SEC has won five of the eight College Football Playoff national championships that have been played thus far. Here are how the SEC’s victories break down over the years:
- 2015-16: Alabama over Clemson, 45-40
- 2017-18: Alabama over Georgia, 26-23 (OT)
- 2019-2020: LSU over Clemson, 42-25
- 2020-21: Alabama over Ohio State, 52-24
- 2021-22: Georgia over Alabama, 33-18
