How many migrants crossed the Channel yesterday? Total for 2025 passes 40k as small boat crossings resume

Almost 800 migrants made the journey across the English Channel in small boats over the weekend after crossings stopped for the longest period in seven years.

Bad weather prevented crossings for 28 days during November and into December, but 737 people arrived in the UK on Saturday as conditions improved. A further 52 came to Britain on Sunday, Home Office data shows.
