When Leeds United defeated Watford and Burnley lost to Norwich City early in April, Jesse Marsch and his team looked to have established enough of a gap over the bottom three that they would go on to secure another season of Premier League football. However, the sacking of Sean Dyche and subsequent transformation in Burnley was unforeseen.
Since then, the Clarets have won three in a row and gone unbeaten in four, managing to put themselves equal on points with the Whites, but with a superior goal difference. Meanwhile, Everton picked up a potentially crucial and unexpected win over Chelsea, which saw them reduce the gap to Leeds to just two points, with a game-in-hand.
All of that now means Leeds are favourites to go down from the three, although everything is still to play for with the three teams so close together in the table. The club, and Leeds fans will be contemplating the idea of life back in the Championship.
