'How long's the curry mile?': The daftest questions Travelodge guests have asked staff in Manchester

There's no such thing as a stupid question, goes the saying. But some Travelodge guests in Manchester seem determined to put the old adage to the test.

The hotel chain has revealed the most interesting, bizarre and downright daft questions staff at their Manchester hotel have been asked over the last 12 months. And there's some right humdingers.

'How long is the Curry Mile?' asked one guest at the Central Arena Travelodge on Bury New Road, while a husband and wife staying at the Manchester Central branch on Blackfriars Street wanted to know where the Rovers Return was as they 'wanted to pop in for a drink'.

And over in Trafford Park one basketball fan wanted to know if you had to be a certain height to play for the Manchester Giants.

But there's also been a few requests that even divas such as Mariah Carey might think twice about making, such as the guest who asked if staff could arrange a 'private VIP shopping preview' of the Christmas markets, or the dog-lover who asked if staff could prepare a meal for their King Charles Spaniel, Charlie as he will 'only eat home-cooked food'.

And Manchester's not alone. In Bath a guest asked if staff could arrange for her to borrow a black silk Giorgio Armani dress Meghan Markle wore for the famous Oprah interview, which was on display in the city's fashion museum, because she wanted to wear it for her 40th birthday party.

And a customer staying at Canterbury Chaucer Central Travelodge was disappointed to hear that King Charles III would not be teaching lessons at The Kings School Canterbury during their stay in the historic city.

But not all the requests were quite so unrealistic. Many people will sympathise with the woman staying at Salford Quays Travelodge who asked staff if they could teach her husband how to make a bed because 'he doesn’t do it at home'.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: "With more Britons holidaying on British shores than ever before our hotel teams have also received a high volume of interesting requests and questions especially around attractions, locations, local dishes, customs and traditions across our diverse British regions.

"Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge. However, there are some requests beyond their control such as arranging for a private VIP shopping preview of the Christmas markets for a guest who wanted to see the stalls without any crowds and to be first in line for all the best purchases."
