England are aiming to book their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Euro 2022 this evening, but they could be forced to go the distance against Spain.
Having breezed through the group stages with 14 goals from their first three games, it’s a much tougher test for the Lionesses in the quarter-finals. They find themselves up against many people’s pre-tournament favourites as they meet Spain in Brighton.
And it proved to be a tight affair during a tense first half, with the visitors posing much more of a threat than the hosts had faced previously in the tournament. Despite that, goalkeeper Mary Earps went largely untroubled, with just a couple of routine saves for the Chelsea star.
