How Kate Middleton stays in shape with a 'wallet-friendly' exercise regime

She is the future Queen of England who is admired for not only her work in the charity sector, contribution and focus on early childhood development and so much more, but also for her incredible style and enviable slim physique.

With a jam-packed schedule that sees her being a hands-on mother to her three children with Prince William, taking care of her royal duties and attending royal engagements, to name a few, it begs the question: how does she keep in such good shape?

Alongside a healthy diet consisting of home-cooked meals, fresh fruit and vegetables and anti-oxidant smoothies, and a good night's sleep - getting 40 winks boosts energy levels and promotes bright skin as well as helping with digestion and weight loss - the 40-year-old royal also has a rigorous workout routine that, although tough, is accessible and easy on the pursestrings.

It is reported that the duchess is known to like a mixture of cardio and weight training and that she, along with her sister Pippa Middleton, has a particular penchant for running. According to The Express, she enjoys, when she can, going for a jog around Norfolk - where the Cambridge residence, Amner Hall, is located.

Her love for the sport has also been noted by former England rugby player Mike Tindall, the husband of Prince William's cousin Zara Tindall. During an appearance on the podcast House of Rugby, when asked which royal family member would be picked for his dream rugby team, Mike said: "I've got the Duchess of Cambridge on one wing because she loves running. She can run all day. Engine!"

There are many benefits to running that can improve not just your waistline but overall health and fitness; it helps clears your mind and relieves stress, it improves and strengthens joints, it can help you live longer (it can reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes and high cholesterol). Best of all - it's free.

Kate is also a fan of strength and conditioning exercise CrossFit, which is a form of high-intensity interval training. It works to help build endurance and muscles - this can involved variations of push-ups, squats and weight lifting. It can also burn 15 calories a minute if you exert enough energy - we're sweating just thinking about it.

According to HELLO! magazine, the Duchess of Cambridge also practices yoga - an body and mind exercise - just like her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. It is said she even prepared for Prince George's birth with pre-natal yoga sessions.

Another sport she loves may not come as a surprise: Kate is big into her tennis. Making regular appearances at Wimbledon, it seems she doesn't just enjoy watching it, but playing too. She has been pictured having lessons and playing the game several times at London's Hurlingham Club in Fulham. Although a membership there isn't half as cost effective as some of her other favourite exercises - an annual membership cost £960. The joining fee is also a humble £2,880, according to HELLO!. She has also played with US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
