How Jamie Laing made his money as he marries Sophie Habboo in intimate ceremony

Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing recently tied the knot with his long-time partner Sophie Habboo.

The couple shared the news of their wedding in plush Chelsea this afternoon following their 16-month-long engagement.

Fans have seen Jamie on TV screens for many years thanks to the popular reality about the rich young people of west London, Made In Chelsea.

He joined the show in the second series in 2011 and has been a household name ever since.

The TV personality has since appeared on Hollyoaks, Celebrity Hunted, The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing, Eight Out Of Ten Cats and more.

But how did Jamie make all his money? Here, we take a look at the star's net worth...

Family

Jamie's father Nicholas Laing and his mother Penny Baines have been married for over thirty years.

The reality star and his siblings were raised in a lavish four-bedroom flat in the expensive area of King's Road.

As many fans can tell, Jamie wasn't short on money before joining Made In Chelsea over 10 years ago.

His great-great-grandfather, Sir Alexander Grant, invented the digestive biscuit in 1892.

Robert McVitie was the company founder but died without an heir, leaving Sir Alexander as the chairman and managing director.

Sir Alexander left the successful company to Jamie's great uncle Hector Laing when he died in 1937.

It has been reported that Jamie's dad, Nicholas, sold his shares in the company in the 90s.

Despite coming from an affluent family, Jamie previously denied that he is an heir to the company's half-a-billion pound fortune.

Speaking to The Mirror, he once said: "I’m not heir to anything. People always talk about this, I don’t know where this has come from.

"I think at the beginning of Made in Chelsea, it was all about affluent people and it was a nice story for them. It is true my great-grandfather started McVitie’s, so it was a nice 'in'."

He went on to explain that he never received a penny from the company and said the family sold it long ago.

"We sold the company a long time ago, but I don’t know where that money went. I haven’t seen any of it. It’s pretty upsetting. I’m hoping one day I find it. I don’t even get free biscuits," he said.

Net Worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the reality star is worth a whopping £7.1 million.

Some of his money comes from his company, Candy Kittens, which he launched in 2012.

The company specialises in vegan and vegetarian sweets and is stocked in most stores around the country.

He also earns money from his television appearances in recent years.

In 2017, he appeared on the first series of Celebrity Hunted along with Spencer Matthews.

A year later, he was on our screens for the charity version of Bake Off. Jamie became a contestant on the eighteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing and was a runner-up.

Jamie has podcasts called Private Parts which he hosts with Francis Boulle, 6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer, as well as one with his new wife Sophie, NearlyWeds.
