How Is Trimble's Stock Performance Compared to Other Technology Stocks?

With a market cap of $13.8 billion, Trimble Inc. (TRMB) is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds to transform how work gets done. It provides precise positioning, modeling, and data analytics solutions for industries including construction, geospatial, and transportation.

Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally considered “large-cap” stocks, and Trimble fits this criterion perfectly. Its technologies help customers build infrastructure, design and construct buildings, optimize supply chains, and map the world while improving productivity and progress.

Shares of the Westminster, Colorado-based company have fallen 29.8% from its 52-week high of $84.42. Trimble’s shares have increased 20.5% over the past three months, outpacing the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLK) 2.1% gain over the same time frame.

TRMB stock is down 24.3% on a YTD basis, underperforming XLK’s 36.3% rise. Moreover, shares of the company have declined 27.8% over the past 52 weeks, compared to XLK’s 38.9% return over the same time frame.

Despite a few fluctuations, the stock has been trading below its 200-day moving average since last year.

Trimble has underperformed over the past year due to slower overall growth and uncertainty surrounding its Transportation & Logistics business. The goodwill impairment and ongoing strategic review of the segment added pressure, and concerns about AI disruption also weighed on sentiment.

In comparison, rival Coherent Corp. (COHR) has outpaced TRMB stock. COHR stock has soared 68.2% on a YTD basis and 170.9% over the past 52 weeks.

Despite the stock’s underperformance over the past year, analysts remain strongly optimistic on TRMB. It has a consensus rating of “Strong Buy” from the 13 analysts in coverage, and the mean price target of $77.91 is a premium of 31.4% to current levels.
