Temperatures could rise to as high as 29°C over the weekend as a plume of warm air brings a change in the weather to Wales. It has been dry since the beginning of May, but forecasters were quick to point out we were not in heatwave conditions because a cool wind from the north kept temperatures low.
But the high pressure area which has been responsible for the settled weather for much of the UK will drift away towards Scandinavia, allowing a plume of warm air from the south to influence the weekend weather for much of Wales and the UK.
Wales is not going to see the highs of 31°C expected in parts of eastern England, but it is going to be warm and humid with the threat of thunderstorms. The Met Office has issued yellow alerts for the whole of Wales on Saturday and Sunday and you can read more about them here.

Eglwyswen in Pembrokeshire recorded 25.3°C on Thursday, the highest temperature recorded in Wales this year. And it looks like it is going to be warmer this weekend. And the Met Office outlook for Wales next week says that that week is going to start "very warm".
Welsh weather forecaster Derek Brockway says that it could be up to 27°C on Friday, and even higher on Saturday with 29°C "possible in Hawarden.

The Met Office says that signals for next week indicate the risk of thundery downpours will continue at first for some with temperatures likely to remain above average. Eastern coastal areas of the UK could be slightly cooler again, with a resumption of an easterly breeze.
The outlook for Wales from Sunday to Tuesday says: "Very warm and a little cloudier than recently with a chance of heavy showers, perhaps thundery, especially on Sunday and Monday. Rather humid, perhaps feeling uncomfortable overnight."
