How Diogo Dalot has become Manchester United undroppable with Erik ten Hag this season

Diogo Dalot has become Manchester United's first-choice right-back and his improvement has been highlighted by a key statistic.

After beginning last season behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order at right-back, Dalot became a regular starter during Ralf Rangnick's interim reign and he's retained that role under Erik ten Hag, who has also consistently started the full-back.

Dalot has started United's last 23 matches and he scored just his second goal for the club on Thursday night against FC Sheriff.

Although the 23-year-old has entered the last year of his contract, United have a one-year extension they are expected to trigger before the end of the January transfer window, with Barcelona and Juventus among others monitoring his progress.

Dalot has become undroppable at Old Trafford and a recent statistic has highlighted the value he adds in the final third. The right-back has recorded 84 attacking sequence involvements this season, which is only bettered by Bruno Fernandes (128).

Taking a shot, creating a shot or being involved in the build-up to a shot, is considered an attacking sequenced involvement.

After Dalot, Christian Eriksen has recorded the joint-third most attacking sequence involvements (81) with Marcus Rashford.

Casemiro is currently in fourth after recording 71 attacking sequence involvements.
