Ohio State got arguably its biggest win of the season when it toughed out a game against a top ten Penn State team that had looked fantastic through the first half of the year. It was a hard-nosed, tough defensive struggle, with the Buckeyes able to pull away towards the end of the game to get their second win over a top ten team so far this season.
The national narrative with Ohio State early in the year is that it wasn’t as good as years past because of of an offense that was still trying to figure things out. And while that was true, nobody seemed to give the team enough credit for how good the defense was.
Since then, and after a couple of top ten wins — at Notre Dame included, the perception is changing and so too are the rankings in the two major polls. On that note, the latest US LBM Coaches poll has been released and the Buckeyes remain in a strong position.
The usual suspects like Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma are there as well. Here’s the latest rankings released Monday and where the Buckeyes are now. We start with the top ten and then share the complete poll.
