How did Michael Madsen's son Hudson Madsen die? Family 'heartbroken' by loss

Hudson Madsen - the son of actor Michael Madsen - died from a gunshot wound to the head, with him suspected of having taken his own life.

The 26-year-old died on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu, where he life with his wife Carlie Madsen.

Hudson's death was confirmed in a statement by the Department of the Medical Examiner in Honolulu.

A spokesperson said: "I can confirm Hudson Lee Madsen, 26, died by a gunshot wound to the head in a suspected suicide on the island of Oahu."

And whilst authorities have commented on the cause of death and general location of the incident, they have yet to confirm when the suspected suicide took place.

Hudson is the son of actor Michael Madsen, 64. His mother is understood to be DeAnna Madsen, 61.

He's said to have six siblings in total, from his father's previous relationships.

Father Michael has appeared in films such as Thelma & Louise, Donnie Brasco and Die Another Day. He also had a role in several episodes of action drama TV series 24 in 2010.

Michael is however best known for frequently collaborating with acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, 58 - having starred in five of the filmmaker's projects since 1992.

The actor had roles in Reservoir Dogs, both volumes of Kill Bill, the Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. And it's been reported that Tarantino is Hudson's godfather.

It's believed that Hudson had served in the US Army.

A representative for Hudson's family released a statement to the Blast following their loss.

"We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson," the spokesperson said.

"His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

"We ask for privacy and respect during this difficult time. Thank you."
