NFL skill position players giving Christmas gifts to their offensive linemen is not a new practice. But San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy turned heads earlier this week when he parked 9 brand-new vehicles outside of the team’s practice facility.
Brock Purdy Gifts 9 New Cars To His Offensive Linemen For Christmas
It is well known that Purdy is on one of the most affordable contracts in the league. Thanks to being the last pick in the 2022 Draft, his rookie contract is worth less than $1 million per year on average, with a base salary of $985,000 for 2024.
Despite the relatively low wage in comparison to his quarterback counterparts, Brock Purdy spoiled his offensive linemen with his Christmas gifts this year. ‘
Video shows the Purdy interrupting a meeting between the linemen, asking all nine big men on the active roster to follow him out to the parking lot. There waiting for them were brand-new cars adorned with huge holiday bows; five Toyota Sequoias and four Toyota Tundras. The recipients were all smiles, with tackle Jaylon Moore saying that it was “probably the best gift I ever got in my life”.
The rhetoric and conversation around the story is predictable: a guy making less than $1 million is giving nine cars that are worth ~$60,000 each to a group that earned over $37 million collectively in 2024.

It is unlikely that Purdy spent over half of his yearly salary on Christmas gifts for the guys who protect him. Instead, it is more plausible that the new cars were a part of the QB’s endorsement deal, as he is sponsored by Toyota and has appeared in multiple car commercials already in his young career. It stands to reason that the company provided the vehicles as a perk, and was perhaps even built in to his contract agreement between the two sides.
We have likely reached the end of the road when it comes to Brock Purdy being on a cheap contract. He has one year remaining on his rookie deal after 2024, and he will be looking to get a long-term deal done during the coming off-season. It was thought that he might set the market by commanding a $50-$60 million deal like the ones handed out to Dak Prescott, Trevor Lawrence, and Tua Tagovailoa recently, but he and the 49ers have endured struggles this year that put his overall value in question.
But whether he breaks contractual records or not, Purdy will be able to afford buying his own gifts for his offensive linemen in coming years.
