As Channel 4 finally revealed when the highly anticipated season three of Derry Girls will air on our screens, we decided to take a look at how the comedy perfectly captures 90s Northern Ireland.
We've been blessed with two seasons jam-packed with nostalgic moments that stir memories of the 90s (arguably the best decade) from the clothes that were worn to the music that was listened to and there's no doubt that the series finale will be no different if the trailer is anything to go by. The show's third season will air from Tuesday, April 12.
Have a read at how Derry Girls perfectly captures 90s Northern Ireland and let us know in the comments if you would add something to the list.

The Fashion
The decade witnessed trends including high waisted jeans and bomber jackets not to mention the beauty fads like shimmery blue eyeshadow paired with flavoured lip balm. Michelle's scrunch dried hair, berry lipstick and big silver hoops emulate the ultimate 90s teenager's way of adding some personality to an otherwise drab school uniform.
The Music
Music is one of the most emotive ways to bring you back in time and the creators at Derry Girls nailed it with the soundtrack from the classic that is 'Zombie' by the Cranberries to Boyzone's 'So Good'. For those who grew up in the 90s, the songs featured in the series have us reminiscing and creating throwback playlists of the golden age of pop music on Spotify.
The Humour
Although it was a time of political unrest, the series perfectly encapsulates Northern Ireland humour - that dark humour that tries to soften the harsh reality of ongoing conflict.
Life before the Internet
Not a selfie or Whatsapp message are in sight during the series. It reminds us of the carefree days before social media took over when we lived for the present moment and also didn't have the stress of checking Facebook after a night out to see the evidence of our antics.
