Chelsea could find out soon where they stand in relation to Cristiano Ronaldo's future as the Portuguese star returned to Manchester United's Carrington training ground for the first time this summer.
The 37-year-old held face-to-face talks with manager Erik Ten Hag after saying earlier in the window that he wanted to leave the club. The new United boss has remained confident that Ronaldo would return and be integrated into the squad, but the forward's continued absence has put that into doubt.
Ronaldo went to Carrington to hold decisive talks over his future and was also joined by former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who played a part in him re-joining the club last season.
