As supporters already know, there are not many better feelings in life than scoring a last-minute equaliser or winner away from home to silence the majority inside stadiums.
It makes those lengthy, gruelling trips across the country with a few cans of cider after battling a number of train delays or traffic jams on the motorways all worthwhile.
Queens Park Rangers away last season, where Nahki Wells scored in the 93rd minute to hand City all three points was one of them, Matty James' equaliser away at Hull was also another where the minority of travelling City faithful went up in raptures when the ball rippled the back of the net.
Of course, those moments are few and far between. There's also the possibility of making those long journeys home completely deflated if City have failed to turn up on the day (Blackpool away) or if they concede in injury time - a rather common occurrence for the Reds.
The way the Championship table pans out for the upcoming season, the Robins are certainly going to be clocking up the miles. Geographically, the teams that came up in Sunderland, Rotherham and Wigan all make for lengthy trips across the country.
That's also the same for two of the sides that came down in Burnley and Norwich. In fact, City's first five away trips of the season are all long journeys to the north of England.
An away trip to Hull is first up which is then followed up by games at Wigan, Blackpool, Blackburn, Norwich and Burnley. That's a total of 1,207 miles in total one way, a 2,414-mile round-trip and a new mortgage to pay the petrol costs for those planning to travel by car.
According to The Stats Zone, they have crunched the numbers to determine how far City's away days total throughout the season. Unsurprisingly Sunderland is the longest trip in the diary adding to a total of 291 miles one-way.
After that, the next highest in Middlesbrough (266) followed by Norwich (244). The shortest journeys are of course to Severnside rivals Cardiff totalling 44 miles, Reading (80) and Swansea (82).
On average, City will travel on average 160.3 miles to each away match over the course of the season with a grand total of 3688 miles over the course of the 23 matches. That's a 7,376 mile round-trip and in comparison to last season, it's 1970 miles more.
But a number of City's Championship rivals are being tasked with longer journeys. Six clubs will clock up more miles in total with Swansea topping the tree with a whopping 4,965 ahead of Norwich (4,555).
