How a months-long investigation into a unit fire led police to a murder suspect

An undercover police investigation, DNA and CCTV footage led officers to charge a man with the alleged murder of Kylee McHugh, newly obtained documents reveal.

Emergency services were called to a fire at Ms McHugh's Wallcliffe Flats unit on Osborne Place about 6.40am on May 18, 2026.
